Madison Academy to host fundraising variety show

If you are a music lover and want to see a variety of shows performed by some of Madison County's most talented young people, Madison Academy will be the place to be this Saturday.
The school's choral department will host the 5th Annual Music Mania at 6 p.m. in the upper gymnasium of the school located on Slaughter Road.
The department's director, Lanette Bass, said Music Mania is a variety show featuring more than 28 acts.
"The acts will range in age from our pre-school children all the way up to our seniors," Bass said. "There is going to be a little bit of everything in this show – something for everyone to enjoy, including solo's, Broadway, oldies, vocals, groups, and more."
Music Mania is a fundraising event for the choral department. Bass said the school's concert choir will travel to New York City on April 10-12. There, they will sing at St. John the Divine and the Statue of Liberty.
"This is an expensive trip and this event will help offset the cost in going," Bass said. "It's also a way to feature our wonderfully talented young people that go to Madison Academy."
Admission to Music Mania is $10 at the door. Tickets can also be purchased by calling the school office at 971-1631.
"Music Mania started off as an alumni and student event. Then it spread to an alumni event and student event," Bass said. "From there, we've turned its focus into a variety show featuring all of the ages here at Madison Academy. It's going to be a lot of fun and entertaining."
