McCollum elected to national board

Madison City Council member Cynthia McCollum has been elected to the board of directors of the National League of Cities.
McCollum was elected at the recent meeting of the Congress of Cities in Salt Lake City. The National League of Cities is the oldest and largest national organization representing municipal governments throughout the United States. McCollum will serve a two-year term on the 40-member national board.
The board has the lead role in shaping priorities and directing the activities of the National League of Cities. McCollum recently served as immediate past president of the NLC National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials.
With a membership of nearly 1,800 cities and towns, as well as 49 state associations, the National League of Cities serves as a resource and advocate for 18,000 U.S. cities that serve more than 225 million people in the country.
