A three-year contract has been approved by the Madison City Council to have tree limbs, leaves and other trash collected by the city taken to a recycling company owned by City Councilman Ray Stubblefield.
Recycling Solutions Inc. will charge Madison $145 for a load consisting of entirely wood waste and $160 for a mixed load, including non-wood trash. The trash will be taken to the company's Limestone County facility just west of Madison. Recycling Solutions was the only company to submit a bid out of 14 companies that were given bid specifications. Councilman Ray Stubblefield owns 60 percent of the company, with 40 percent being owned by William Boyington.
Madison had been sending its trash to the Huntsville Solid Waste Disposal Authority.
