Butler gives $10,000 to BJHS fine arts programs

A financial contribution from Sen. Tom Butler to the Bob Jones High School Drama Department and Choral Department will go toward an upcoming trip to state competition for the school's drama team and for a stage set for the choral department.
Butler presented Drama Department Director Dwayne Craft and Choral Department Director Randall Fields with a $10,000 check. Craft said approximately $1,500 will be used to send the schools drama team, the Patriot Players, to state competition in Troy State University on Dec 6-7. Craft said the financial contribution from Butler would keep the department financially in the black.
Fields said $8,500 would be used to have a giant, mobile half-shell built for the stage that will help in sound affects for the choral department while performing. Fields said the shell would help project the sounds coming from the singers out into the audience.
