BJHS teacher named top science educator

The Alabama Science Teachers Association has named David White, a teacher at Bob Jones High School, Alabama's Secondary Science Teacher of the Year.
White received the award at the annual ASTA convention in Midfield.
Since 1997, White has taught regular and advanced-placement chemistry at Bob Jones. He has also served as adjunct faculty member at Calhoun Community College in chemistry since 1997, where he was awarded the Outstanding Teacher Award for part-time faculty in 1999,
The ASTA award is given annually to a teacher nominated by students, colleagues, parents, and /or administrators. The selection from the nominees is based on the application packet, submitted by the nominated teacher, consisting of a resume, three letters of recommendation, a statement of vision of science teaching and a sample lesson plan.
White has been a science teacher in the area for more than 20 years. He has received numerous awards and has participated in many and various professional activities.
