Golf tourney to benefit HOPE Place
The annual HOPE Place golf tournament is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 24, on the Robert Trent Jones courses at Hampton Cove.
More than 200 golfers are expected to play in the tournament to benefit victims of family violence through HOPE Place. It is one of the largest golf tournaments of the summer in North Alabama.
The entry fee is $150 per person or $600 per team. In addition, the fee includes a continental breakfast, golf cart, a HOPE Place golf shirt, commemorative team photo and lunch during the awards ceremony following the tournament. Half of the entry fee is a tax-deductible contribution to HOPE Place.
There is still time to register. For more information, call Crisis Services of North Alabama at 716-4052 and ask for Bill Farris.
Football class offered to mothers
A Sunday afternoon class will be offered to mothers whose son plays football and has a problem understanding the game. The class is designed for mothers of youth league, middle school and high school players. Topics covered will include terminology, rules, strategy and officiating. The class will be offered from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, at Dublin Park in Madison. The fee is $20. For registration information, call 881-5151. You may register at the door.
